2014 New Year’s Resolution: Start wearing the clothes I own.
Sounds ridiculous right…but I noticed that over the past few weeks I have been reaching in my closet for the same 4 or 5 items when I am getting dressed for work.
So on Jan 2 I pulled out every blazer, blouse, skirt, pant and dress that I had…
And for the next 18 days I am challenging myself to wear something that I love, yet rarely put on, every day!
I will also take a much needed hiatus from shopping.
It’s OUT with the new and IN with the old this month!
This look was inspired by local Toronto Stylist Sandra Pittana, as seen on the City Line Holiday show (she looked fab in a Apple green and pink ensemble)
I was also inspired by the classic cool of Kate Spade and J. Crew.
At this point in my career Spade and Crew are a little over budget but inspiration is …FREE!
I still cannot believe this outfit was hiding in plain sight in my closet and to think I almost gave this shirt away!
Can’t wait for tomorrow’s look!
the Woman I was, the Woman I am, and the Woman I am becoming
The end of the year is always a great time for self-reflection on the past and high hopes for the future.
This year instead of simply making a resolution I am envisioning the career woman I am becoming.
I truly believe that if you dress the part, walk the part and talk the part; it’s only a matter of time before its your’s.
This year I hope you all find and embrace the vision of the career woman you want to be and exceed your own expectations!
HAPPY NEW YEAR from CIWTTW
With the atmosphere at the office shedding its summer slow down, it’s time to get back to black…however, that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with it!
I would rock a long sleeved dress over a suit any day.
It’s a “one shot and your dressed” fabulous way to head into the office, particularly for early fall when the weather is still nice and the evenings are cool.
The Bay: Dress Ralph by Ralph Lauren (came with the belt!)
Pearls purchased at the Bay previously
It may sound crazy to some of you, but I absolutely adore matching belts with my shoes (or at least getting close to the colour).
However, it is great when the dress comes with a belt and matches a pair of shoes you already own!
I just love the way Michelle Obama is wearing her blue dress. The colour is professional, inviting and calming all at the same time.
My amazing big sister was kind enough to give me the blue dress and lace camisole shown on my Judy and it is truly one of my absolute favourites!
If I haven’t mentioned it before, I love Bay Days at The Bay. I picked this lovely number up for over 70% off. Often it is a bit too much to wear both the jacket and skirt together at work so I break it up with either a black blouse or skirt/dress/pants.
I am all about bright coloured suits mixed in with my typical black, grey and navy.
